un train peut toujours en cacher un autre
In this piece, inspired by the work of the writer Italo Calvino, and more particularly by his novel Palomar, the choreographers Katarzyna Gdaniec and Marco Cantalupo wonder how every different person may perceive a same reality. During the nine scenes, separated by blackouts, the dancers practice the art of diversion, trompe lâoeil, imposture, mixing dance, play and musical improvisation, with the purpose of unsettling the audience. This rhythmical, sensual and sarcastic performance leads the audience, partly seated in the theatre as well as on stage, to constantly reconsider the meaning of what it sees. "One sooner or later does question if what he thinks to see is what is really happening, and how far his way of perceiving reality distorts it. How real is an image reflected by an irregular surface, what is the sound of silence, what can we see when we close our eyes. The âexteriorâ as we observe it corresponds indeed to a construction of our means of observation and of our habits of interpretation. We have tried to draw back the idea that the "exterior" represents something that can easily be seized, judged, manipulated. Just to remain awake." Katarzyna Gdaniec and Marco Cantalupo
